Towards Resiliency Enhancement of Network of Grid-Forming and Grid-Following Inverters

This paper proposes an autonomous control scheme to mitigate voltage-frequency excursions observed in a network of grid forming (GFM) and following (GFL) inverters power electronics dominated (PEDG). The proposed leverages GFL inverter's ability dynamically adjust their set-points as well change operation mode on-the-fly enhance the PEDG resiliency. A supervisory controller (SC) comprising Droop-ΔP estimator coupled with optimal allocator (OPA) module adjusts injections from maintain balance restore frequency response disturbances. Moreover, self-ranking based coordinated selection (SR-CMS) algorithm reconfigures (either GFM or GFL) resiliency events ensure inverter allocation clusters. Several case studies are performed validate feasibility, performance, robustness control. Finally, is experimentally validated on small-scale hardware testbed.
